Keep on Sailing the Wine-Dark Sea grew from my lifelong fascination with Ancient Greece and my parallel journey as both scientist and sailor. Blending the thrill of navigating the Mediterranean with reflections on history, literature, philosophy, and medicine, it shows how rational thought — first born in Greece — remains the bedrock of science and of our shared humanity.
Today, that tradition is too often clouded by doubt and misinformation. My hope in writing this book was not only to share the adventure of sailing, but also to reaffirm the intellectual compass that has guided medicine and discovery for centuries.
